Job Responsibilities:
Internship
- Provide leadership in the development and implementation of a viable internship programme.
- Initiate and build partnerships with employers to develop student opportunities for internships nationally and internationally.
- Conduct site visits to evaluate appropriateness and relevance of internships for students and promote students.
- Facilitate student learning by assisting students to secure appropriate internships to enhance overall academic experience and learn skills essential to conduct a successful job search.
- Identify, develop and monitor current internship sites.
- Counsel and advice students regarding employment opportunities through various employee.
- Provide leadership and direction in the areas of individual assessment, educational choices, career planning and development and employment strategies for students.
Placement
- Work proactively to identify and develop relationships with employers (and alumni) to promote the career progression of our undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Liaise and work collaboratively with other agencies, for example IAESTE, to explore the opportunities including worldwide traineeship programme.
- Generate jobs, internships and job shadowing opportunities for students and alumni by establishing and maintaining productive employer partnerships.
- Collaborate and promote Career Planning services through in-class presentations, new Student Orientation with support from Student Services Department.
- Help students identify employment options that match their career interests. Assist students in all aspects of the job search including resume writing, interviewing techniques and job referrals.
- Participate in coordination and organisation of on-campus events such as the annual career and Internship job fair.
- Develop an active on-campus business and industry presence. Schedule and advertise campus recruitment for employers.
- Participate in the planning of new experiential learning programmes in the college.
- Advising students on their applications and the College's expectations of them in undertaking a placement; providing a point of contact while the students are on placement and feedback to employers and colleagues following a placement.
Qualifications
- Atleast 2-3 years of experience in relevant fields, preferred candidates with experience in colleges and schools
- Bachelor’s Degree in releveant fields
- Ability to work to deadlines, deal with stress and thrive under pressure.
- Ability to provide leadership to a range of staff
- Experience in managing a team
- Confident and highly proficient with Microsoft Office software
- Efficient and well organised, with attention to detail
- High level of communication, negotiation and mediating skills.
- Ability to exercise good decision making skills
- Experience in conflict resolution and consensus building
- Ability to communicate and maintain systematic, coherent expectations with all constituents.
