ECA/CCA Coordinator (Gym & Sports)

  1. Purpose of the Role

 

To provide support for effective operation of gym and managing logistics for multiple sports

 

  1. Functions of the Post

 

To provide leadership for the college’s sport and physical recreation programme

 

  1. Key Duties (Gym)

 

  • Assist in the smooth day-to-day running of the gym and fitness facilities.
  • Help students identify personal goals and develop personalised fitness programmes tailored to support and motivate them
  • Demonstrate how to carry out various exercises and routines
  • Constantly monitoring and being alert to how exercises and taking swift corrective action as necessary to minimize injury and improve fitness; 
  • Careful observation, give alternative exercises during workouts or classes for different levels of fitness and skill.
  • Monitor progress and adapt programmes as needed.
  • Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations on sports, recreational activities, and the use of exercise equipment
  • Provide information or resources about nutrition, weight control, and lifestyle issues
  • Provide emergency first aid if needed
  • Liaising with Head of Student Services and Internship, Associate Deans, and other relevant staff to understand how extra-curricular activities can support and enhance the curriculum and equip students with valuable life skills 
  • Ensuring that any resources or equipment that are needed for extracurricular activities are purchased or acquired. 
  • Ensuring that students use appropriate sports safety equipment and footwear as necessary.
  • Ensuring that students are protected from dehydration by ensuring that drinking water is available.
  • At all times behaving according to the highest standards of professionalism.

 

  1. Key Duties (Sports)

 

  • Enhancing the profile of sport and physical recreation
  • Increasing the participation and quality of student in sport and physical recreation
  • Coordinate Student Sports and Physical Recreation
  • Coordinate team entries and payment of fees
  • Prepare sport and physical recreation budget
  • Organise awards and prize giving ceremonies
  • Promote fair play principles in sport and recreation programme
  • Collect, collate and record results, achievements of college teams/students
  • Establish effective liaison between students
  • Promote and publicise opportunities available within the college sports and physical recreation programme
  • Target specific activities to increase participation
  • Organise and coordinate interhouse/interform sports and physical recreation programme
  • Organise and promote major college sporting events
  • Organise and coordinate system of issuing equipment for use by students
  • Establish and administer system for storage, maintenance, issue and return of sport and physical recreation equipment
  • Formulate and establish policy for organisation and running of sport and physical recreation in the college
  • Develop and establish a training programme for officials staff and students
  • Develop and establish a system to ensure the safety of all involved in the sport and physical recreation programme
  • Establish and maintain links with community sports and physical recreation clubs and agencies
  • Promote college facilities and resources
  • Develop a plan to coordinate fundraising efforts for college activities, teams and events
  • Promote achievements of students within sport and physical recreation
  • Promote positive benefits of participation in sport and physical recreation within college
  • Promote the establishment of sports clubs and physical recreation groups within the college

 

Job Requirements/Qualification

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Gym Instructor certification preferred
  • Experience of working in the fitness industry is desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A professional appearance
