I'm Manoj Panta, 24 years old, and I joined The British College (TBC) in September 2021. I graduated on 7th November 2025, and honestly, these past four years have been an incredible journey. From day one, I was excited to dive into the world of computing, and today I'm working as an Associate Web Developer at E-Works. This is my story.

A Fresh Start

My first day at TBC? I was genuinely excited. Everything was new to me, and I was eager to learn. The classes were so different from my +2 modules,  much more practical and hands-on. Instead of just memorising theory, we were actually building things and solving real problems.
I loved being in this learning environment. It felt refreshing to finally dive deeper into IT and do more than just read about it. The energy around campus, the projects, the practical approach,  it all made me want to get more involved and explore everything TBC had to offer.

The Exchange Programme That Changed Everything

In 2022, something incredible happened. Students from Leeds Beckett University (LBU) came to Nepal for a student exchange programme, and I was selected as one of eight representatives from our entire college. Eight students out of hundreds. I couldn't believe it.

That experience was both exciting and scary. I got to work alongside students from the UK and realised I could compete with anyone. It pushed me to work harder and believe in myself more. We also worked with Raspberry Pi and IoT devices during the programme, which opened my eyes to how technology actually works in real life, not just in textbooks.

Events, Competitions, and Finding My Voice

College life at TBC wasn't just about attending classes. I got involved in everything I could. I represented TBC at the PUBG Campus Club tournament. Yes, gaming! But it taught me about teamwork, handling pressure, and planning strategies,  skills that work way beyond gaming.

In 2023, I volunteered at Career Fest. Meeting professionals from different industries showed me what the real working world looks like. It motivated me to build both my technical skills and my people skills.

By 2024, I became one of the coordinators for Job Fest. This was huge for me. Organising a large event taught me about leadership, time management, and clear communication with teams.

I also joined the organising committee for The British Cup from its 4th edition. Planning and running the event required constant problem-solving and coordination. It wasn't easy, but seeing everything come together successfully made all the late nights worth it.

Learning by Doing

TBC organised these amazing bootcamps,  intense, hands-on sessions where you actually build things. I learnt website development, database management, and software design through these workshops. It wasn't just about writing code. It was about solving real problems, working in teams, and finishing projects from start to finish.

These experiences gave me the confidence I needed to step into the professional world without feeling lost.

The Friends Who Made It All Memorable

One of the best parts of my TBC journey. The friendships. My closest mates were a constant source of support, motivation, and fun. We studied together, worked on group projects, competed in events, and created memories I'll never forget.

These friendships taught me how to communicate better, work with different personalities, and see things from other people's perspectives. They made college feel like a community, not just a place to get a degree.

Building Real Skills

At TBC, I didn't just learn theory. I gained practical skills in:

  • Website creation and design
  • Database management and optimisation
  • IoT devices and applications
  • Problem-solving and software development

I applied everything through projects, workshops, and competitions. By the time I graduated, I felt ready to work in the real world. TBC taught me that technology isn't just about coding,  it's about creativity, thinking critically, and never stopping to learn.

From Intern to Professional

After graduation, I started as an intern, which gave me a proper introduction to professional web development. I learnt how projects go from planning to execution, how to work with clients, and how to function as part of a professional team.

Today, I'm an Associate Web Developer at E-Works, and I'm still learning something new every single day. None of this would've been possible without my time at TBC. The college gave me the confidence and knowledge to succeed in the working world.

What I Learnt Beyond Books

Looking back, TBC gave me so much more than a degree. I transformed from a shy, unsure student into a confident professional. I learnt about:

  • Resilience when things got tough
  • Leadership through organising events
  • Time management whilst juggling multiple responsibilities
  • Teamwork in every project and competition
  • Communication skills that help me every day

Every challenge,  whether it was a difficult project, organising an event, or competing in a programme,  became an opportunity to grow. I also learnt that failure isn't the end. It's just another step towards success.

Thank You, TBC

I'm incredibly grateful to my teachers, mentors, friends, and The British College for making this journey possible. Their guidance, encouragement, and support helped me through tough times and pushed me to grow.

The memories we created together,  late-night study sessions, group projects, competitions, and celebrations,  will stay with me forever.

A New Chapter Begins

Graduating from TBC isn't an ending. It's the start of something new. The knowledge, skills, and experiences I gained here have made me confident about my future in computing and web development.

I'll carry everything I learnt at TBC with me,  into my career, my personal life, and whatever comes next. Thank you, British College, for helping me become who I am today. These four years will always inspire me, and I'll look back on them with pride, gratitude, and joy.
