Cyber Security Launcing Event

The British College Launch the Brand New BSc (Hons) Cyber Security and Digital Forensics Programme :

 

On 2nd December 2021, The British College will host a Launching Event for the brand new BSc (Hons) Cyber Security and Digital Forensics programme, at the Soaltee Crowne Plaza, Tahachal Marg.

 

Running from 3 pm onwards, a host of special guests - including CEO’s and experts from the field, have been invited to enjoy the launch of this new course, which will be run in partnership with the University of the West of England. To kick off the event, guests will be treated to a special cyber security themed dance which is intended to excite the audience and represent the threat that hacking is currently posing to the country.

 

The event will then officially be launched by Mr Maha Prasad Adhikari, the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB); who will be followed by Mr Manish John, CEO of Facts Nepal - who will deliver a presentation on the ‘Facts and Figures of Cyber Security and Digital Forensics’. The programme itself will then be introduced by the programme leader Rohit Raj Pandey, who will explain how this UK certified course will be run at the College, and outline the wide range of opportunities that will be open to students once they graduate.

 

Formal addresses will then be delivered by Mr Vishal Upadhyaya, the Chief Information Officer of Ncell; Mr Anil Kumar Dutta, the Joint Secretary of Ministry of Communication and Information Technology; chief guest Mr Maha Prasad Adhikari; and CEO and founder of The British College, Mr Rajen Kandel. A lively panel discussion will then begin, in which experts from the field will tackle some of the most pressing issues within the cyber security and digital forensics community at present. 

 

Moderated by Dr Rajib Subba, Former Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police - amongst the panel will be an impressive selection of guests including Mr Bijay Kumar Roy, from the Monitoring Division of Nepal Telecom Authority (NTA); Mr Amit Agrawal, Co-founder and Director of Khalti; Mr Narayan Koirala, Managing Director of Eminence Ways; Mr Sujit Shretha, COO of Standard Chartered Bank; Ms Yasmine Bhattarrai, Head of the IT Department at NCell; Prof. Dr Subarna Shakya, the Director of the Information Technology Innovation Centre at Tribhuvan University; and a representative from Nepal Police (Cyber Security and Digital Forensics). 

 

The exciting discussion will then be followed by a formal dinner and networking session. Starting in January 2022, the new BSc (Hons) Cyber Security and Digital Forensics course at TBC will be the first of its kind in Nepal. Rajen Kandel has said of its introduction, “Nepal is fast moving towards the digital economy and as such, there is a huge need for cyber security and digital forensics within the country. That is why we are so glad to be introducing this unique programme, which will provide both the country and our students with great opportunities in the coming years”.
